Our view of the service
Lifeways Community Care (Poole) is a service providing care and support to people in their own homes. Not everyone who used the service received personal care. CQC only inspects services where people receive the regulated activity of personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided. At the time of this inspection, there were 43 people receiving personal care. The inspection took place between 23 January 2026 and 27 January 2026. This was a planned inspection.
We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We considered this guidance as there were people using the service who have a learning disability and or who are autistic.
Staff understood the safeguarding procedures in place and felt confident concerns would be acted upon by management. Care plans and risk assessments were person centred, and enabled staff to support people effectively. These were reviewed regularly. People were encouraged to engage in activities that were meaningful to them. Staff were recruited safely and received training and supervision to support them in their roles. The service had experienced recent management changes, with a focus on supporting staff and driving improvement. Staff told us they felt supported and appreciated by management. One staff member told us, “I can honestly say Lifeways is one of the best companies I have worked for and I love my job.” The provider had systems and processes in place to review and monitor the safety and quality of care.
People's experience of this service
Relatives spoke positively about the care provided and management of the service. One relative told us, “I don’t think [person] could have better support from what they are getting”. Another person told us, “They get support from the staff, and they are very good and supportive.”
