Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 24 April 2025 to 6 May 2025. The service is a residential care home supporting up to 20 older people, some living with dementia. We found improvements had been made to care plans, medicines and governance. Previous breaches of Regulations were met. The service is now rated Good overall.
People received person centred care from staff who knew them well. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. People were safeguarded from harm and risks were assessed and managed. Medicines were managed safely and people were involved in medicine reviews. The home and equipment were clean and well maintained with easy access to two separate gardens. Incidents were tracked, reported and investigated in an open way.
Governance systems had improved giving the registered manager oversight of the service. The culture was open with a staff team who felt confident in raising concerns and making suggestions to improve. People knew how to give feedback and knew it would be acted on. Staff continued to work with health and social care professionals to improve people’s quality of life.
People's experience of this service
People were positive about the quality of their care. One person described the staff as ‘wonderful’. People were relaxing in one of two lounges, a conservatory and in the garden. The atmosphere was calm and jovial. Visitors were coming and going throughout the day. One person said, “My family visit often, they love to be here.”
We carried out a short observational framework for inspection (SOFI) and observed staff engaging with people in a kind and patient way. SOFI is a way of observing care to help us understand the experience of people who could not talk with us. We observed that people enjoyed lunch in the garden and an afternoon singing session.
