Our view of the service

The Christie Pathology Partnership (CPP) is a joint venture between SYNLAB and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. The partnership operates out of the Christie pathology laboratories and serves a population of more than 3.2 million.

The Christie is the largest single site specialist cancer centre in Europe. The laboratories also provide testing, screening and assay development to support The Christie’s early phase clinical trials, with around 200 trials underway at any one time.

This service is regulated to provide Diagnostic and Screening procedures and Management of blood and blood delivered products.

The main services provided were:

• Biochemistry

• Haematology

• Blood Transfusion

• Stem Cell Processing

• Histopathology

• Molecular Diagnostics

• Breast Tumour Receptors

The Christie Pathology Partnership have accreditations with the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) No.8697, the Human Tissue Authority (HTA), the Medical and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the Joint Accreditation Committee ISCT-Europe EBMT (JACIE).

There was not a registered manager in post at the time of our inspection.

The location was previously inspected on 19 October 2021. CQC do not rate medical laboratory services.

We found that the service was in breach of 1 regulation. We requested action plans from the provider to address this breach.
