Our view of the service

We carried out our on-site comprehensive assessment on 11 and 18 November 2025. We looked at all key questions and all quality statements and followed up actions taken from the last assessment where improvements were recommended.

Loganberry Lodge is a large residential care home providing accommodation with personal care for up to 143 people. The service provides care to older and younger people, those with dementia, sensory impairment and physical disabilities. There were 142 people living at the service at the time of our assessment.

At our last assessment (report published 16 September 2022) recommendations had been made relating to the deployment of staff, the analysis of accidents, incidents and safeguarding processes and the provision, variety, choice of meals and people’s dining experience. The service was rated requires improvement. At this assessment we found improvements has been made and the service is now rated good.

People received safe good quality care and were supported by a kind and caring staff team that knew and understood their needs well. Staff managed risks and safeguards related to people’s health and care needs. There were enough staff to care for people who were deployed appropriately around each unit. Staff had been recruited safely. People’s medicines were given as prescribed. The environment was safe, clean and welcoming. Incidents, accidents and safeguards were fully investigated and any lessons learnt were shared with staff.

People’s needs in relation to their health and wellbeing were assessed and reviewed. The staff team had positive relationships with health and social care professionals and partner agencies to monitor outcomes for people. Consent to provide care for people was sought and legal documentation was in place where people did not have capacity to make their own decisions.

Staff were positive about their role and felt supported and valued by the management team and their peers. They were provided with a range of training, supervision and opportunities to share feedback on their experiences of working at the service.

The provider had a quality assurance process in place. Information systems recorded and monitored people’s changing and complex needs to ensure care was up to date and responsive. There were effective communication and teamwork to ensure good outcomes for people. There was an open and transparent culture at the service, where feedback was actively sought and acted upon by the registered manager. Complaints and any untoward events were used as learning opportunities to improve the service. The registered manager was highly thought of by people living at the service, relatives, staff and professionals.
