Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 16 December 2025 to 16 January 2026. The service is a residential care home providing support to people with a learning disability and autistic people.

This assessment was carried out in response to concerns raised about how the service responded to incidents, staffing levels and deployment, infection prevention and control, and the day-to-day management and culture within the service.

We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found people received care and support in accordance with this guidance.

We observed positive staff interactions with people living at the home. Staff were kind, considerate and responsive and this was further confirmed through feedback from people and relatives we spoke with.

The registered manager promoted a positive learning culture and people could raise concerns.

Staff received training in safeguarding and safeguarding referrals were made appropriately.

There were enough staff deployed to meet people’s needs. Systems and procedures for recruiting new staff were robust. Staff received training and this was monitored to ensure it was up to date.

There were effective processes to prevent and control infection. Regular audits were carried out to oversee the cleanliness and safety of the environment.

People’s medicines were managed safely by trained staff who received regular competency checks.

People’s needs were assessed prior to moving to the service. People’s care plans contained risk assessments and guidance for staff on how to manage risks associated with people’s care and support.

Staff gained people's consent prior to providing care and support. Care plans provided staff with guidance about how to involve people as fully as possible in making decisions.

Staff were well supported and spoke positively about the leadership and management of the home. The registered manager valued diversity in their workforce and promoted an inclusive and fair culture.

Systems and processes to assess, monitor and improve the quality and safety of the service were operated effectively. The management team worked closely and effectively together and demonstrated a clear understanding of their roles, and a passion for improving the lives of people. There was a strong focus on continuous learning, innovation and improvement.

We received positive feedback from external health and social care professionals about how the service worked in partnership with them, and the care and support it provided to people.
