Our view of the service

We assessed Cygnet Hospital Beckton from 2 to 4 June 2026.

Cygnet Hospital Beckton is an independent specialist hospital for women of working age. It provides acute wards and psychiatric intensive care units (Hooper Ward and Svanna Ward), and specialist personality disorder services (New Dawn Ward and Upping Ward).

Cygnet Hospital Beckton is registered with CQC to deliver the regulated activities: Assessment or medical treatment for persons detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 and Treatment of disease, disorder or injury. The service had a Registered Manager in post.

We carried out an unannounced comprehensive inspection to follow up on the areas of concern and breaches of regulation from our previous inspection in December 2024.

We rated the acute service as good. We rated personality disorder services as good. The overall rating of Cygnet Hospital Beckton has improved to good, and it was no longer in breach of regulations.
