Our view of the service

Date of Inspection: 07 September 2026 to 30 September 2026.  Amberley Hall is a care home that provides nursing care and supports people with physical disabilities or dementia. The care home can accommodate up to 106 people. At the time of our inspection, there were 96 people living in the service. We carried out an unannounced site visit. We completed a focused inspection to review concerns we had identified previously.

At the last inspection the provider was in breach of the legal regulations relating to safeguarding and good governance. We found the service had made significant improvements and were no longer in breach of these regulations.

Medicine management identified an area of improvement. However, the environment was well maintained, and infection prevention control (IPC) measures were embedded to ensure the service was clean. People felt safe and when incidents occurred in the service these were investigated and reported to the Local Authority where required to ensure people were protected from harm. Lessons were learnt and shared with the workforce. Care plans were clear on the care and support needs of people, and these were actively being followed by the staff.

The provider had implemented a new care planning software since the last inspection, and this was being embedded. It linked with the provider’s governance system to improve their oversight and ways of working. The staff workforce had attended additional training to support them within their roles, and the management team had worked with staff on monitoring the staff’s well-being more closely.

People's experience of this service

We gained feedback from speaking to people directly in the service and 1 relative. People told us that they felt there were enough staff to support them although there are times it can take a while for staff to respond to their call bells, a person told us, “Call bells are usually longer to wait, they get called away to do other things.” We made the provider aware of this feedback, and they were going to review this. A relative we spoke with raised concerns and gave us consent to raise this with the provider. The provider was going to speak with the relative and reviewed the concerns raised.

However, people we spoke with felt safe and felt able to raise concerns. People were supported to manage their care and support needs and felt the environment was clean and well maintained.

Some feedback we received was “I like the environment; I like my own space and I have it. I have my own television and I can read. I can do what I want.” Another person laughing told us “Yeah, they are quite good. They always tell me to drink more, drink more, they go on about it.” Another person told us “There is plenty of them and they are very nice. They always come and check on me.”
