Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 16 June to 18 June 2026. The service is a residential home providing support to older people some of whom were living with dementia. At the time of the assessment there were 13 people living in the home. The provider had a good learning culture and people could raise concerns. Managers investigated incidents thoroughly. People were protected and kept safe. Staff understood and managed risks. The facilities and equipment met people’s needs, were clean and well-maintained and any risks mitigated. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Managers made sure staff received training and regular appraisals to maintain high-quality care. Staff managed medicines well and involved people in planning any changes.The provider had a service improvement plan in place, actions and timescales were updated. Staff told us they liked working at the home and the management team were very supportive. Staff said they felt listened to and valued.

People's experience of this service

People were positive about the quality of their care. They felt safe and were fully involved in planning their care and understood their rights. One person said, “Very safe, they have safety measures in place, bells, it’s good. The staff are very, very good.” Another person said, “They are pretty quick. I usually press it around 2am, they are pretty quick there too at night.”

People said they received high quality care from knowledgeable staff who treated them as individuals.One personsaid, “They are as caring as you can hope for. They listen to you. [Staff name] gives everyone as much time as they can.”

Several people described how staff treated them kindly and made sure any personal care was done sensitively, preserving their privacy and dignity. One person said, “I’ve never needed my washing and dressing done, I’m independent. They knock on the door; they are very good. They approach you well.”Staff promoted people’s independence for example, supporting people to go out in the community. People’s health and well being needs were met. Referrals to health care professionals were made in a timely manner.

People felt able to complain and were confident action would be taken and improvements would be made. People knew staff and leaders well. One person told us, “There is always somebody to help you. It’s appreciated. They are very good.” Another person said, “They [staff] respond to your needs the best they can. You don’t feel like you are in a cage and can’t get about. I can’t speak highly enough about them. They are wonderful and very kind to me. I have a joke with them. I appreciate what they do. [Staff name] would help if you wanted to go to the shops.”
