Our view of the service

Date of assessment 14 to 20 May 2025. Tadworth Grove Care Home is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care for up to 45 people on 3 separate floors. The home provides a service to older people including people living with long term conditions and dementia. At the time of our inspection there were 35 people using the service. This was a responsive assessment due to concerns we received in relation to the care of a person who used the service, cleanliness of the home and the management of the service. We did not find any evidence of these concerns during our assessment.

Most, people said they were cared for by staff who were kind and caring and knew them well. However, 2 people reported some concerns in relation to the attitude of some of the staff. These concerns were reported during the inspection and the provider took prompt action to address this.

Person-centred activities were available for people. People and their relatives were involved in their pre-admission assessment, care planning, and the management of individual risks. Staff worked with external healthcare professionals to ensure people’s needs were monitored and met. People were able to make choices and consent to their care.

People received their medicines safely and as prescribed, and staff received training in medicines management. Processes to help ensure that risks to people were assessed and mitigated were effective. Staffing levels were overall adequate to meet people’s needs. The provider had processes to help ensure there were always enough staff to meet people’s changing needs.

People lived in a safe, clean and well-maintained environment. There were good systems to protect people from the risk of infection and cross contamination and staff followed good practice. The provider had systems for investigating and responding to accidents, incidents, complaints and safeguarding concerns. There were systems in place for the safe recruitment of staff.

Staff received regular training and had their competencies checked. People’s end of life wishes had been considered and documented. Staff spoke favourably of the management team and felt listened to and consulted. They had opportunities to learn and develop in their role.

The provider had a range of audits and checks designed to monitor and improve quality at the service. The staff worked in partnership with others to follow best practice.
