At the inspection on 7 May 2026, we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulation:

Staff were checking emergency equipment and medicines in line with national guidance. There were weekly check sheets in place. We found one piece of equipment missing. The provider ordered this item during the inspection. The practice should take action to ensure the availability of equipment and medicines in the practice to manage medical emergencies taking into account the guidelines issued by the Resuscitation Council (UK) and the General Dental Council.

The practice had effective arrangements to ensure the safety of the X-ray equipment. The X-ray machines had undergone annual electromechanical servicing and 3 yearly performance checks within the required time-frames. The provider evidenced they were registered with the Health and Safety executive (HSE).

Procedures for managing fire safety had been addressed. We found the provider had addressed all the recommendations from the external fire risk assessment and the fire alarm had been serviced.

The practice procedures to reduce the risk of Legionella, or other bacteria, developing in water systems, was in line with a risk assessment and current guidance. Recommendations had been addressed from the external risk assessment carried out in July 2025; hot water checks were reaching the recommended temperatures and water quality checks were being carried out.

The practice dental laboratory was registered with the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.

Although the provider had made improvements in relation to storing paper records, further action was needed to ensure they were stored securely in line with General Data Protection Regulations. The practice should take action to ensure the practice stores records relating to the management of regulated activities, in compliance with legislation and take into account current guidance.
