Our view of the service

Date of Inspection: 10 March 2026 to 18 March 2026. Avenues South East- 87 Westbrook Avenues is a residential care home supporting up to 3 adults with a learning disability or autistic people. At the time of our inspection 2 people were living at the service, both of whom were being supported with regulated activity of personal care.

The inspection was unannounced and took place as part of our regular monitoring role. The rating at the last inspection was “Good” and after this inspection has remained “Good”.

The service was delivering a high standard of care, which focused on people’s strengths, independence and preferences. Risks to people were well understood and there were systems in place to safeguard people, whilst promoting choice and positive risk taking.

People’s care was regularly reviewed alongside people and families to ensure it continued to meet their physical and social needs. There was an experienced and passionate team of staff in place who knew people exceptionally well, treated them with kindness and empowered them to participate in their wider community. They worked collaboratively and creatively with wider health and care partners to ensure people received the support they needed, when they needed it.

We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found the service were complying with this guidance, and its principles were embedded in all elements of people’s health and care to emphasise people’s rights, independence and choice.

People received care in an environment that was appropriate to their needs, which was clean, vibrant and largely well maintained. We observed people felt comfortable in the space and treating it as their own home.

People were supported to achieve their goals, and take part in activities that were meaningful to them including planning for the future.

There was strong management in place who had developed a positive culture, and embedded robust monitoring and governance arrangements to monitor the safety and effectiveness of care. People and staff felt comfortable in raising any concerns, and that these would be listened to and responded to with openness.
