Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 09 April to 23 April 2025
Zach’ s Care is a domiciliary care agency supporting people with personal care living in their own homes. People may be living mental health support needs.
At our last inspection the service was in breach of 3 regulations of the Health and Social Care Act (2014) in relation to safe care and treatment, person-centred care, consent to care and good governance. At this inspection the service had improved and is no longer in breach of any regulations. The service has improved from Requires improvement to Good at this inspection.
People were safe being supported by the staff team. Staff were trained and knew how to report safeguarding concerns. Risks to people had been assessed including in relation to medicines. There were enough trained and competent staff to support people safely. People’s needs were assessed when they started using the service and reassessed regularly. Staff supported people to stay healthy and see health professionals if necessary. People were supported in line with the Mental Capacity Act (MCA). People were positive about the staff who supported them and described them as kind and caring. People were supported in line with their preferences. Some people’s care plans were not person centred or detailed and the management team took immediate actions to rectify this. The management team had a good oversight of the service and audits were effective in identifying, making and sustaining improvements. There was a positive culture at the service, people were happy with their support and staff enjoyed their job roles.
People's experience of this service
People were happy about their experiences using the service and gave positive feedback about the way they were supported by the staff team. They were also positive about the way the service was being managed. One person said, ‘‘[Staff] are very good and have given me a lot of confidence leading to a massive improvement in my life. They are flexible and change when I am supported to help me out. They are brilliant.’’ A relative told us, ‘‘[Staff] certainly know [family member] well and it has been like this from the start. The [management team] made sure they asked them how they wanted to be supported, and this has been followed through.’’
