Our view of the service

Date of assessment 27 October – 27 Nov 2025. Hollyfields is a care home with nursing supporting older people, some who may be living with dementia, and younger adults. The service is registered to support up to 48 people and at the time of our assessment there were 30 people living there. We visited the service on the 27 October and 3 November 2025. This assessment was carried out in response to concerns raised about care, peoples’ safety from falls and staffing levels. We looked at all quality statements in the key questions of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
People’s needs were assessed before admission and reviewed regularly to ensure appropriate care. Care plans were person-centred, and most risks were identified and documented. The provider had systems in place to learn from incidents and share lessons with staff to promote good practice. During our assessment, we noted some areas for improvement, which the provider addressed promptly. At the time, the service was undergoing refurbishment, and suitable checks and risk assessments were completed to maintain safety. Care was delivered by safely recruited staff who had received safeguarding training and understood how to report concerns.

People's experience of this service

People told us that staff were kind, respectful, and listened to them. They felt treated with dignity and gave examples of how staff protected their privacy. One person commented, “Staff are always respectful.” Many people enjoyed taking part in activities and felt they had control over day-to-day decisions. Visitors reported feeling welcomed and reassured that their loved ones were cared for in a supportive environment.
Most people said there were enough staff and that call bells were answered promptly. However, during our observations in areas where people could not use call bells, we noted occasions when individuals were calling out or showing signs of distress without staff present to respond.
