Our view of the service

Inspection dates- 16th to 22nd October 2025. The service is a residential care home with nursing providing support to adults over and under 65 years, including those living with dementia and physical disabilities. At the time of the inspection, 64 people were living at the service. Since the previous inspection, significant progress has been made across most areas. There were breaches of regulation at the last inspection in relation to safe care and treatment and staffing, however, these have now been met.

People told us they felt safe, respected and involved in their care. Staff were observed to be kind, responsive and compassionate, and care was consistently person-centred. Improvements in staffing levels and reduced agency use contributed to safer and more consistent care delivery. The environment was generally safe and well-maintained, although some areas required refurbishment. Governance systems had improved but remained inconsistent, with gaps in oversight and monitoring that led to missed checks and documentation issues. This resulted in a breach of legal regulation under the well-led key question in relation to governance systems and processes needing improvement. Despite this, leadership was inclusive and transparent, with a strong culture of learning and improvement. Staff felt supported and empowered, and partnerships with external professionals were effective. Overall, the service demonstrated a caring and responsive culture, with committed staff and leadership focused on continuous improvement.

People's experience of this service

People told us they felt safe and well cared for at the service. They described the service as clean, welcoming, and homely, with staff who were kind, respectful, and attentive. A person said, “The staff are lovely… they are always kind and caring,” while a relative shared, “The care here is fantastic; the whole family is made to feel welcome.”

People were supported to maintain their independence and dignity. Staff were observed offering choices throughout the day, including where to sit, what to eat, and how to spend their time. A person told us, “I can have a shower whenever I want,” and another said, “They take good care of me here. I have everything I need.”

People had access to meaningful activities tailored to their interests. Despite the lift being out of order during the inspection due to replacement, staff adapted the activity schedule to ensure everyone could participate. A relative praised the activities coordinator for “going above and beyond,” including organising a special birthday outing and celebration. People also enjoyed trips out in the service’s minibus and visits from community groups.

Family members felt confident in the care provided and told us staff were approachable and responsive. A family member said, “If there are any problems, the staff are very approachable, and things are sorted right away.” People were supported to stay in touch with loved ones through open visiting, phone calls, and video chats, with staff assisting where needed.

Overall, people experienced a caring, inclusive, and responsive service where their voices were heard, and their well-being prioritised.
