Our view of the service

We carried out this inspection as the service had not been inspected since April 2023. The Staiano Clinic is a consultant-led plastic surgery clinic. The clinic provided pre-operative and post-operative consultations for patients undergoing or considering plastic surgery. Post-operative care, including wound management, was delivered on-site. The service also undertook minor surgical procedures on site, including mole removal, areola reduction and cyst excision.

Between May 2025 and May 2026, the service carried out 293 minor procedures at the clinic and 20 surgical procedures at an affiliated hospital.

We assessed all quality statements across the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions and have combined the scores for these areas to give an overall rating.

The service had a good learning culture and patients could raise concerns. Patients were protected and kept safe. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Managers made sure staff received training and regular appraisals to maintain high-quality care. Staff managed medicines well and involved patients in planning any changes.

Patients were involved in assessments of their needs. Care was based on latest evidence and good practice. Patient outcomes were positive. Staff made sure patients understood their care and treatment to enable them to give informed consent.

Patients were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. Staff responded to patients in a timely way. The service supported staff wellbeing.

Patients were involved in decisions about their care. The service provided information patients could understand. Patients knew how to give feedback and were confident the service took it seriously and acted on it. Patients received fair and equal care and treatment.

Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Leaders were visible and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities.

However, we found breaches in regulation for governance arrangements and infection prevention and control that required improvement.

In instances where CQC has begun a process of regulatory action, we may publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded, if the action has been taken forward.

Or, if we have requested an action plan, this will be requested upon publication of the final report.

People's experience of this service

Patients were all positive about the staff treating them with warmth and kindness and providing effective care and treatment. They said they felt cared for, listened to, and fully informed of the treatment options. We spoke with 2 patients and reviewed feedback information both within the clinic and online. We observed very caring interactions between staff and patients.
