Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 13 May to 19 May 2026. The service is a care home providing support to people with needs relating to their mental health. At the time of the inspection 8 people were using the service.
People were involved in assessments of their needs. Staff reviewed assessments taking account of people’s communication, personal and health needs. Support was based on latest evidence and good practice. Staff worked with all agencies involved in people’s care for the best outcomes and smooth transitions when moving between services. People were supported to manage risks they faced. Staff made sure people understood their care and treatment to enable them to give informed consent. The service was clean and well maintained throughout.
People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff treated people as individuals and supported their preferences. People were supported to maintain relationships with family and friends. The provider supported staff wellbeing.
People were involved in decisions about their care. Staff provided information people could understand. People knew how to give feedback and were confident the provider took it seriously and acted on it. People were involved in planning their care and understood options around choosing to withdraw or not receive care.
The provider had effective systems to assess how the service was operating and plan improvements where needed. Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment.
The provider did not always make sure that medicines were consistently recorded when people refused them or check that medicines were stored at the correct temperature. The registered manager took immediate action to address these shortfalls by the second day of inspection.
People's experience of this service
People were positive about the quality of their care and support. They felt safe and were involved in planning their support and understood their rights. Comments from people included, “I feel safe here. I would speak to [the registered manager] if I had any concerns” and “I feel safe here.”
People said they received good support from knowledgeable staff who treated them as individuals. People said staff were available to help when they needed them.
People described how staff treated them kindly and were respectful, preserving their privacy and dignity. Comments included, “I get on with the staff very well. I enjoy their company” and “I am very happy here.”
People were confident they could raise any concerns and action would be taken to make improvements. People knew staff and leaders and felt the service was well managed.
