Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 3 November to 6 November 2025. Camellia House is a care home, providing personal care and accommodation to older people and including those living with

dementia. The service can support up to 4 people. At the time of the assessment, there were 3 people living at the service who received a regulated activity.

The assessment was carried out due to the length of time since the last inspection.

Stakeholders had also shared recent feedback with CQC regarding this location, including concerns with care planning and mental capacity assessment. At the assessment, we found a

breach in regulation in relation to good governance.

Governance systems were not effective in identifying or addressing areas for improvement. People’s capacity to consent to care and support had not always been assessed in line with the

Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) and necessary paperwork had not been completed to deprive a person of their liberty. The provider acted upon this and provided evidence of their actions.

Medicines were managed safely and staff followed infection control policies and procedures.

There were enough staff to meet people’s needs, and they had been trained and supported to understand their role.

Staff treated people as individuals, providing a person-centred approach. People had access to health care professionals to ensure their health needs were met when required. Staff respected

people’s privacy and dignity and encouraged people to remain independent. People were supported by a caring staff group who respected their choices and preferences.

The staff team understood the importance of ensuring safeguarding processes were followed to ensure people were not placed at risk of harm.

We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
