Our view of the service
Mulgrave House Nursing Home is a service registered to provide personal and nursing care for up to 34 people. At the time of the assessment there were 29 people living at the service. This was a comprehensive assessment for the service which was registered 1 March 2022. The assessment commenced on 11 November 2025 and was completed on 25 November 2025. This included 2 visits to the service on 11 November 2025 and 13 November 2025. The provider was in breach of regulations in relation to medicines and good governance. There was a lack of oversight at the service. Quality assurance systems and processes were not always in place or effectively implemented to ensure safety and quality improvement. Records were not always accurate, and checks completed by management were ineffective in identifying and addressing issues found at this assessment. Medicines were not always managed safely. For example, eye drops were observed stored in the medication trolley, despite being a medication that requires refrigeration, and out of date medicines were found in the medicines room. This meant there was a risk to the effectiveness of the medication which meant people were at risk of harm. There was a consistent and reliable management team in place to run the service. There were enough suitably skilled staff to support people safely. Staff knew people well and ensured they were offered choices regarding their support and daily lives. The service was clean, and the environment personalised. Feedback was welcomed about improvements needed and leaders were committed to developing the service to ensure safe care at Mulgrave House Nursing Home.
