People's experience of this service

We were not able to speak directly with the people living at the service during our visit. However, we spoke with relatives of people who regularly stayed at the service to gather their views and experiences of the care provided. We also observed interactions between staff and people at the service during the assessment.

Relatives of those who regularly used the service were mostly positive about the quality of their family member’s care. A relative of a person who regularly used the service said, “The place is a real home from home." They felt their family member was safe and they were involved in planning their care where appropriate.

Relatives said their family members received care from knowledgeable staff who treated them as individuals. One relative told us,“[Person] has never refused to go to The Trees sessions and enjoys being there. Believe me, if [person]didn’t like it, you would know about it.”

Our observations showed that staff were supporting people in a timely and caring manner, with people responding positively and engaging in conversation with staff. When people were distressed or upset, staff responded in ways that ensured people were kept safe.
