Treating people as individuals

Independence, choice and control
Staff had established positive caring relationships with people they supported and their relatives. Staff focused on delivering person centred care that met people’s individual care needs. People received continuity of care from a regular team of care staff who supported them. This helped staff to know people's individual routines and preferences.
A person told us, “[Care staff] look after me well.” A relative said, “The carer has bonded well with [my family member].”
Care plans detailed the assistance people needed and how staff should encourage them. These detailed what assistance people needed and how staff should encourage them. People received care and support that was personalised and responsive to their individual needs and their care plans were kept under review to ensure staff continued to meet their changing needs.
