Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 17 November 2025. The service is a care home providing support to older people, some of whom are living with dementia. At the time of the inspection, there were 22 people receiving care. The inspection was carried out in response to concerns we had previously reported on when we inspected in June 2025. We looked at 5 quality statements in the safe and 5 quality statements in well-led key questions.
People were now being supported safely by staff. During our last inspection we found the environment was not visibly clean, with noticeable stains on furniture and surfaces. Some windows were unrestricted, and a fire exit door was being left propped open, putting people at risk of leaving the service without the knowledge of staff. During this inspection we found the service had addressed these concerns. The service was now significantly cleaner, windows had restrictors, and the fire exit door was now shut.
During our last inspection we found people were not supported by the provider to integrate into their local community, which left them unable to go out as they wished unless they had family or friends to go out with them. During this inspection we found a noticeable effort by the service to provide access to the community for people.
Leaders did not always use the available systems and processes effectively. As a result, issues identified through audits by the manager and provider were not consistently addressed, and risks to people were not always mitigated in a timely manner.
During our last inspection, staff did not feel supported by their manager and felt they could not suggest ideas for improvements as these were not welcomed. At this inspection, we found a new interim manager had been appointed while recruitment for a permanent manager was underway. Staff reported feeling very positive about this change and said they were now being listened to.
The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulation relating to safe care and treatment. During this inspection we found the provider remained in breach of this regulation and in breach of the good governance regulation.
People's experience of this service
People and their families were positive about the care and support they received. They felt safe and were confident they would be heard if they raised any concerns with leaders. Relatives felt staff were approachable. Comments included “[staff] are very kind” and “empathic to people’s needs”. People told us “[leaders] were very friendly and approachable” who “always let me know if there are concerns.”
The provider had started to support people to access their community and had focused on people who did not have a family or friends' network to take them out. This had a positive impact on people, however, people we spoke to stated they would like this to be developed so there were more opportunities to go out.
