Our judgement

The manager was appropriately experienced and was about to complete an appropriate management qualification.

Overall we found that Allied Healthcare Newbury was meeting this essential standard.

We did not ask people being supported by the agency about this outcome.

Other evidence

The manager was undertaking Level 5 “Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Services” and was due to complete this by the end of March 2012. The manager provided records to demonstrate her management of the agency and explained the ways in which she monitored the service to maintain an overview.

The manager is not qualified as a nurse but alternative arrangements had been made for a visiting qualified nurse to oversee medication issues and provide the professional supervision and appraisal support to the nurse employed by the agency. This person also took part in the employment interview for the nurse.
