Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 22 and 23 July 2025. Woodlands Ridge Nursing Home provides accommodation with nursing care for up to 20 people. Accommodation is arranged over two floors with stair and lift access. At the time of this inspection there were 15 people using the service. Our inspection was prompted by concerns received about the safety of care being delivered. This was a comprehensive inspection, and we reviewed all of the quality statements. At the last inspection the service was rated good. At this inspection the service has remained good.

We found no concerns about the safety of care provided. Incidents and accidents had been reported, investigated and lessons learned shared with staff. Staff had the right skills and qualifications and were trained to carry out their roles. There were enough staff on duty to meet people’s needs. Medicines were managed safely; however, some people’s PRN protocols were not person-centred. The provider carried out regular assurance visits. Action plans were produced and this meant there was additional oversight at provider level. However, at the time of the inspection although some of the shortfalls we noted had been identified, not all had. Safety checks had been carried out for the premises and for any equipment being used. Fire risks were assessed and managed. Risk assessments had been completed and regularly reviewed, and overall care plans informed staff how to keep people safe from harm. However, we noted some inconsistencies in peoples care records where information was conflicting. Staff followed safeguarding processes and systems were effective to manage any safeguarding concerns. People had enough to eat and drink to stay healthy. We observed people’s consent was sought and overall, the provider followed correct processes when people lacked capacity to make specific decisions. However, we noted some inconsistency in ensuring all relevant decisions for the use of equipment had been considered. Staff worked with all agencies involved in people’s care for the best outcomes and monitored people’s health to support healthy living. The service was clean, and we observed staff following infection prevention and control guidelines. Staff told us there was an open culture and they felt valued and respected by the management team.
