Well-led
Well-led – this means we looked for evidence that service leadership, management and governance assured high-quality, person-centred care; supported learning and innovation; and promoted an open, fair culture. At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant the service was consistently managed and well-led. Leaders and the culture they created promoted high-quality, person-centred care.

Governance, management and sustainability
Staff understood their responsibilities and there was a structure of governance in place. Staff told us they felt supported by the management team to fulfil their responsibilities. Leaders understood their legal responsibilities and ensured staff undertook relevant training in line with statutory and regulatory requirements. One member of staff told us, “I do feel supported. I definitely feel confident.” Another member of staff commented, “They’re really good with checking that we work in a great way and that we follow policies and procedures.”
The provider had undertaken audits to monitor the quality of care and took steps to improve it. For example, the provider monitored that daily notes were being completed adequately to reflect people’s day-to-day activities and concerns arising from people’s care. The provider had systems in place to ensure they implemented updates to national guidance or changes to legislation. The service had an emergency management and business continuity plan in place which designated roles and responsibilities in the event of an emergency. Electronic care records were stored safely and there were systems in place in the event of technology failing. The registered manager had notified CQC of important events that happened in the service in line with legal requirements.
