Our view of the service
Date of assessment 16 March to the 8 April 2026. B and S Healthcare Limited is a home care service providing personal care to adults in their own home. At the time of the inspection, the service was supporting 60 people with 36 people receiving a regulated activity of personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating.
The last rating for this service was good (published October 2019). A comprehensive assessment was undertaken looking at all quality statements under the 5 key questions. This was a scheduled assessment. Following this assessment, the service remains good.
People received safe care, and staff understood their needs and preferences well. Care plans gave staff guidance to support people safely. Staff managed risks and met people’s health and wellbeing needs. People and their representatives were involved in the planning and delivery of care. The staff put people at centre of their care. People received their medicines safely and in line with their wishes.
Systems were in place to clearly record any safeguarding concerns, accidents and incidents, the actions taken and lessons learnt.
Staffing levels were sufficient to provide safe care. People were protected by robust recruitment processes. Staff felt supported in their roles and received training to enable them to provide care that was effective, responsive and caring. Staff received regular supervision and spot checks were completed enabling the management team to monitor work and performance.
Staff provided kind and compassionate care. They protected people’s privacy and dignity. Staff treated people as individuals and supported their preferences. Comprehensive assessments were completed to ensure the agency could meet the expectations of the person receiving care. People were fully involved in this area.
The service was well led. The management team were proactive in ensuring people received a quality service that met their individual needs. Feedback was sought from people, their representatives and staff. Feedback from professionals was positive on how the service had supported people. Governance systems were in place to monitor the quality of the care delivery.
People's experience of this service
We spoke with 4 people who used the service and 6 relatives. An expert by experience supported the inspection. An expert by experience is someone who has experience of this type of service.
People were positive about the service they were receiving. They confirmed the care and support was delivered by regular and familiar staff. People told us they felt safe receiving care and support in their own homes. People and their relatives told us the management team were approachable and should they raise concerns, they would be acted upon.
People confirmed their involvement from the start, beginning with the initial assessment meeting where they first discussed their goals with the provider. They were involved in regular care reviews to ensure the ongoing support met their needs.
Comments included, “Every effort is made by all staff in the company to not let people down. We never feel rushed or pushed. Everyone is really courteous. I have no complaints and would recommend the service,” and “The company is very well organised and all staff so helpful. I would recommend them and have no complaints.”
