Our view of the service
Cossington Park Surgery is a GP practice located in Leicester. The practice delivers services to around 7,700 patients under a contract held with NHS England. The provider is registered with CQC to deliver the following Regulated Activities: Diagnostic and screening procedures; Family planning; Treatment of disease, disorder or injury; Maternity and Midwifery services; and Surgical procedures.
The National General Practice Profiles states that the ethnic make-up of the practice area is 13.1% White, 77.8% Asian, 3.8% Black, 1.9% Mixed Ethnicities, and 3.4% Other Ethnicities. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 2nd decile (2 out of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. We carried out a comprehensive assessment of the practice in July 2023 and rated the practice Requires Improvement. We carried out this assessment on 16 and 28 July 2026 and rated the practice Good in all key domains and Good overall.
People's experience of this service
The practice pro-actively encouraged people to give feedback and used feedback from people who used the service to make improvements. Feedback we reviewed, such as data shared from the NHS ‘Friends and Family Test’ showed patient experience about the practice was positive. 100% of patients surveyed said they found their care at the practice to be ‘Very Good.’
The results of the National GP Patient Survey found 70% of patients described their overall experience of Cossington Park Surgery as ‘Good’ which was in line with the local average of 73% and slightly below the national average of 77%. 91% of patients reported the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to was good at treating them with care and concern during their last general practice appointment which was above the local average of 84% and the national average of 86%. 87% of patients reported the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to was good at listening to them during their last general practice appointment which was in line with local and national averages. 78% of patients found the reception and administrative team at Cossington Park Surgery helpful which was slightly below the local average of 82% and national average of 85%.
To hear from patients about their experiences we asked the service to share details of CQCs ‘Give Feedback on Care’ process. CQC received feedback from 5 patients of which all 5 were positive about their experience of the service. Positive patient feedback related to the clinical care and treatment received, and staff helpfulness and compassion.
