During a routine inspection

We spoke to a number of people who used the service and to relatives of service users. People told us that they were happy with the way they were supported:

"It is fine ...everyone is very good and they help me to do things for myself..."

"They don't bandy person centred care around as a logo...they just give good care..."

Medication was being managed appropriately and staff said they were given suitable training.

This service had a suitable office base and all confidential information was stored appropriately in this office.

We had evidence to show that staff received good levels of supervision and support. We saw that staff had received training and that further appropriate training was underway.

The provider had introduced a new quality monitoring system and we saw that all aspects of this service had been checked. Plans were in place to make sure any necessary improvements were being progressed.

During a routine inspection

People in this service were given the opportunity to consent to care and support. This meant that they had all the information necessary to make an informed choice. Where they had restrictions on their rights this was done appropriately and under the advice of mental health practitioners.

Care and support was given in the way people wished. Care plans and risk assessments were focussed on the individual and were suitable and up to date.

We had evidence to show that people in the service were suitably protected from harm and abuse. Staff and management understood their responsibilities. Staff received good levels of training in adult protection.

We saw that staff received suitable levels of supervision and training that helped them to develop as workers and provide appropriate levels of support to service users.

The manager had good quality monitoring systems in place so that she could check on the way people received support and on how her team of staff were developing.
