Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 19 August 2025. The service provides personal care to older people and younger adults, some of whom may be living with a learning disability and/or a mental health condition. This assessment was in response to information of concern and to follow up on the last inspection. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’. This guidance supports judgements about whether a provider guarantees people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choice, independence and access to local communities that most people take for granted. The provider was in breach of regulations relating to how the service was governed. There were systems in place to assess risks to people and plans to reduce them, but these were not regularly reviewed and kept up to date. Governance systems were in place but had not consistently ensured staff had received the required training to ensure that people were safe. Additionally, systems used to identify risks were not always effective as environmental risks were not always identified or addressed quickly despite audits being in place. However, people received support from staff who had been recruited safely and were safeguarded from the risk of abuse by trained staff. Staff were caring and responded to individual needs, supporting people to make choices and retain their independence. People had their communication needs met and received person-centred care that encouraged independence and promoted participation in meaningful activities. Care was tailored to individuals and included input from families, advocates, and professionals. People understood how to make a complaint, and their feedback was sought in order to gather information on how to improve the service. We found the provider had systems in place to ensure the ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance was followed.
