During a routine inspection

People told us they were happy living in Elizabeth Welsh House and were glad that had decided to move in. 'I decided myself to live here and I am glad that I did'. 'I enjoy my meals and I don't have to cook for myself now'.

Visitors also told us they were happy with the care and support provided to their relative. They said 'I am more than happy with the care my [relative] receives. They have been so much better having company when they want it'.

We saw that staff treated people with dignity and respect, always asking them what they wanted to do and where they would like to sit.

Care plans gave guidance to staff so that people's needs were met. Risk assessments were in place and reviewed regularly. This meant that this service was a safe place for people to live and work in.

People who lived in the home saw healthcare professionals when necessary so that their health and wellbeing was monitored.

Staff training was up to date which ensured that those that provided the care and support were able to care for people living in Elizabeth Welsh House.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to some of the people living in the home and they said, 'I am fine here and when I ring my buzzer someone comes right away". Another person commented, 'I think everything is lovely. I am very happy living here and the staff are so kind. I feel safe too".

We found good standards of care and support were delivered in a warm and caring manner and that people were relaxed in their surroundings.

All the people we spoke to felt that their privacy, dignity and independence were promoted. These values were underpinned by the essential training that staff had received. People spoke very positively of the staff team describing them as, 'Helpful and kind.'
