At the time of our assessment, we found staff were not always following fire safety procedures to ensure fire escape routes were clear of hazards. The provider rectified this straight away and put in place systems to remind staff about the importance of this.
Safe systems were in place for managing medicines and people received their medicines as prescribed. However, improvements were needed to the processes around managing medicines administered covertly to ensure the provider was following their own processes and recording that they had involved all relevant professionals in decision making. We discussed this with the provider who agreed to implement the changes.
There were enough suitably trained staff to care for people and meet their needs.
