Our view of the service

We had previously undertaken an on-site inspection on 6 January 2026 under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions.

We found the registered provider was not providing safe and well-led care and was in breach of Regulation 12 and 17 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.

We undertook an unannounced follow up on-site inspection on 18 August 2026.

This inspection was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to confirm that the practice was now meeting legal requirements.

We found that the practice had met Regulation 12 but continued to not meet Regulation 17.

There was a lack of effective leadership, and not all risks associated with undertaking of regulated activities had been suitably identified and mitigated.

The practice is in Minehead and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking was available near the practice.

The practice had 6 treatment rooms.

At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 16 staff, of which there were 4 dentists, 2 dental nurses, 4 student dental nurses, 2 dental therapists, 1 receptionist, 1 compliance administrator, 1 cleaner and the practice manager.

We spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 1 student dental nurse, 1 receptionist, the compliance administrator and the practice manager.

The provider was not complying with 1 regulation - Good Governance.
