Assessing needs
The service made sure people’s care and treatment was effective by assessing and reviewing their health, care, wellbeing and communication needs with them. People’s needs were assessed prior to their admission to the service. This supported the registered manager to assess and determine if the person’s needs could be met, and if the environment was suitable for them. Assessments also considered the needs of other people living at the service to ensure compatibility. People’s support needs were routinely reviewed, and people told us they were involved.

People were reminded of their rights regarding consent, and these were respected in person-centred care delivery. The registered manager and staff understood their requirements to support people with consent. People and their families understood their rights and were involved in planning care and support. One person said, “They [staff] listen to me and help me when I need it.”
