Inspection carried out on 4 April 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke to everyone in the home and people were satisfied with the way they were cared for. One person said that they were "spoiled to bits" and another said "I am so much better cared for here...everything is just grand". We saw that people were given good personal and health care support. We also learned that people were supported and encouraged to go out and were still involved in local community activities.

Everyone we spoke to was happy with the food provided and several people told us they also went out for meals.

"We often go out and that is a nice treat".

The house was clean and hygienic on the day of our visit and some new systems were in place to prevent cross infection.

People in the house were happy with their rooms and the shared areas. One person told us:

"I have a lovely big room and my own bathroom ...and a view out over the Irish sea...what more do I need?"

Staff received suitable training and support and told us:

"We work closely with the provider and we learn together...I am very happy working here."

The provider had suitable systems in place to measure quality and one person told us:

"The quality of everything is very high...I am glad I moved in here as I can't fault things."

There had been no complaints or concerns received about the service and people in the home were able to tell us how they would complain if they were unhappy.

People in the home were very satisfied with the care and services provided.
