Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 13 November 2025 to 05 December 2025

MaciIntyre Ampthill Supported Living is a domiciliary care agency supporting people living in their own homes. The service supports people who may be autistic or living with a learning disability or physical disability, with personal care in several ‘supported living’ settings. 15 people were being supported with personal care at the time of this inspection.

We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ (RSRCRC) guidance to make judgments about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

At our last inspection the service was in breach of 2 regulations of the Health and Social Care Act (2014) in relation to people’s consent to care and good governance. At this inspection the service had improved and was no longer in breach of any regulations. The service has improved from Requires improvement to Good at this inspection.

People were safe being supported by a staff team who understood how to safeguard them from abuse. Risk assessments and care plans detailed how to keep people safe. There were enough staff to support people safely. People were supported safely with their medicines for the most part. The management team assessed people’s needs before and people had positive experiences when they started using the service. Staff helped people stay healthy and have good outcomes in relation to their health and wellbeing. People were supported in line with the Mental Capacity Act (MCA).

Staff were kind and caring and people and relatives were positive about their/ their family member’s support. People were supported as individuals to have choice and maintain their independence if they chose to do so. For the most part care plans were personalised and detailed. People and relatives were supported to feed back about the service and staff supported people to identify and achieve their desired goals and outcomes. The registered manager and management team were compassionate, taking the time to make sure people and staff felt well supported. Audits and governance measures were effective in monitoring the quality of the service and driving improvements where these were necessary.

People's experience of this service

People told us they were happy being supported by staff. We observed people to be happy and relaxed whilst being supported by the staff team. Staff supported people to have a full and active life in line with their preferences and choices about how they liked to spend their time. One person said, ‘‘It's really good here actually. I know all the staff and know their names. We go out lots of places.’’ Another person showed us how they liked their staff team by using signs, gestures and body language. A relative told us, ‘‘[Staff] are brilliant and too caring if anything. We have absolutely no issues with anything.’’
