We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it.
Since the previous assessment, we saw evidence that the service had made improvements following the shortfall found at the last assessment. Risks relating to individuals' care were assessed and staff clearly understood their duty to ensure people’s safety.
Care was delivered in the least restrictive manner, always prioritising the best interests of those supported. Recruitment processes were robust, ensuring staff were suitable for their roles, and all mandatory training had been completed. Staff members expressed that they felt appreciated and well-supported by the management team.
After our visit to the service, we spoke with 14 staff, and 4 relatives.
