During an inspection looking at part of the service

The people who use the service told us that they were happy with the care and support they received. One person said that the carers were all fantastic, that they were more than capable, polite, efficient and that they listened. We found that people's views about the service were sought and that that people felt confident to raise any concerns or issues.

Care Plans, which detail the help people need and have agreed to, had just started to be changed to a new format. This new simpler format is more straightforward, and easier to understand. However only two people had the new format when we visited. We were told that people would be involved in agreeing their new style care plans, however this is yet to happen. However people did tell us that staff did what was asked and listened to them.

We found that there were systems in place for keeping people safe. Staff are checked before they start work, and staff are being sent on safeguarding training. However this training relates to adults, and the few carers who work with children need to have training that relates to children.

During a routine inspection

The people who use the service told us 'the staff are fantastic' and that they are treated with respect and dignity. They told us that they are asked before care is provided, and they are listened to. There were concerns from one person that the implications of refusing care were not explained.

Staff have enough time to provide the care and people were satisfied with the standard of care. Staff were described as efficient, tidy and they know their job. We were told that staff were pretty punctual, and if someone was to be late then they received a phone call.

People felt that they could raise a concern or a complaint, if they needed to.
