Our view of the service
Date of Inspection: 16 to 29 July 2026. Ivonbrook Care Home is a residential home providing regulated activity to adults under and over the age of 65. The service is registered to provide care for up to 40 people. At the time of our inspection, 28 people were using the service. This inspection was carried out in response to concerns we received about the safety of the service. We found systems were in place to support the monitoring and management of people’s care. However, care plans had not always been updated promptly to reflect changes in people’s needs and some people’s care plans contained conflicting information. The provider had established systems for managing medicines, but these were not always fully effective and required further development to ensure safe and consistent practice. The provider took immediate action during our inspection to put this right.
Staff had received safeguarding training and demonstrated a good understanding of their responsibilities to protect people from harm. The provider had processes in place to identify, manage and mitigate risks within the care environment, and there were sufficient numbers of suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs. Staff received effective support, supervision and opportunities for development.
We observed a positive and person-centred culture throughout the service. Leaders had the skills, knowledge and experience to provide effective leadership and were committed to delivering high-quality care. The provider understood the importance of working collaboratively with partners to ensure joined-up care and support for people and promoted a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
People's experience of this service
Not everyone using the service was able to share their views and experiences of care with us. To help us understand people's experiences, we also sought feedback from relatives and carried out observations throughout the inspection. Relatives spoke positively about their involvement in managing risks and told us they were kept informed about changes to their family member's care and support needs. Feedback from relatives about the leadership of the service was consistently positive, with the management team described as approachable and supportive. Throughout the inspection, we observed there were sufficient numbers of staff available to meet people's needs. Staff were attentive and responsive, often anticipating people's needs. They demonstrated a good understanding of people's individual preferences and treated people with kindness, dignity and respect.
