All Inspections

14 January 2014

During a routine inspection

As part of the inspection we spoke with one person who used the service, two relatives, three members of staff, the provider, the operations manager and the acting manager.

All the people we spoke with were positive above the care and support provided by the service. We received no negative comments. A person who used the service told us, 'They never miss a call. If they are going to be late due to an emergency they phone me. I have the brochure here with the 24 hour telephone number. I always get an answer if I ring. I have recommended the service several times to friends.'

A relative told us, 'The relief to the family by this agency is amazing. My (relative) sees the carers as friends. They are so kind and helpful. They always give choices, like asking what (my relative) wants to eat or to wear. I am more than satisfied."

The feedback received from people and their relatives indicated quality care had been provided by a consistent staff team.

The three members of staff we spoke with confirmed they had attended many training courses and were well supported by management in their responsibility to deliver care and treatment safely and appropriately.

During a routine inspection

As part of this inspection we spoke with three people who used the service. Everyone we spoke with told us they were satisfied with the service provided. One person told us, 'They are very good, they turn up on time, and they never miss a call. I have no complaints.'

Another person told us, 'I get on very well with them all. They are all very, very nice and very, very kind.'

We spoke with a relative of a person using the service they told us, 'My relative gets on very well with all of them. All the care workers help promote my brothers independence and provide stimulation. It's a relief we have found a good agency.'

Another relative said, 'Everything is going quite well, she looks forward to them coming.'

From the feedback we received we found the agency provided good quality care which was delivered by a consistent team of care workers. The manager told us, 'If staff go off sick, all the office staff are trained to do care so we step in and help.'

We spoke with two staff who worked for the agency. They both told us they had attended a lot of training and are supported by the provider and manager. One member of staff told us, 'I love it working here, it's one of the best things I ever did.'

5 September 2011

During a routine inspection

We spoke with six people who received a care service from Home Instead Senior Care. We also spoke with two relatives who lived with people who received care.

All the people spoken with told us that they were very happy with the service provided. One person told us, 'The staff are very good. Some I like more than others but they are all good.'

All of the people we spoke to told us that the carers arrived on time unless there was a problem. In that event people said they received a telephone call to inform them.

One person said, 'They are very helpful in the office and there is always someone there.'

We asked about care plans and people said they had a care plan in their home and the carers kept it up to date. People also told us that staff always complete the daily log sheet and sign it to say what they have done and how long they were there.

None of the people we spoke with had ever made a complaint but said they would if something was wrong. One person we spoke to told us that, 'Everything is marvellous. I couldn't ask for anything better.' 'I will be having a review with them in December to see if everything is still ok.'
