All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We observed people and staff at lunch time and throughout the afternoon. People looked very comfortable in the company of the staff and we saw that staff knew each person's needs well. We spoke with three people who lived in the home and a relative. They all praised the staff and said that they felt safe in the home.

People were cared for in a way which met their needs and respected their preferences. People told us that the staff were 'kind' and helped them to do the things that they chose to do.

People were enabled to live full lives. We saw evidence that people went on trips and were encouraged to play an active part in their community. The people at the home had been involved in several fundraising events for local and national charities.

People's cultural needs were met. Staff knew about each person's past and made efforts to make sure that they were able to enjoy a lifestyle of their choosing. There were celebrations to mark events of cultural importance to people in the home.

People were kept safe. Staff were trained in recognising the possible signs of abuse and the manager had taken appropriate action when people had been identified as vulnerable.

There were good arrangements for making sure that staff had received appropriate training, so that they were competent in their roles.

There were good arrangements for assessing and monitoring the quality of the care and for responding to complaints.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with three people who lived in the home. They told us that they liked living in this home.

People said,

'I am very happy here.'

'It is a good place to live.'

'I feel very safe here.'

'If you came to live here I am sure would be happy.'

People told us how the staff provided them with the care and support they needed. They looked relaxed in the company of staff.

People told us that they were consulted about how much support they wanted from staff and how they wanted it to be provided. They said that they felt involved in planning their own care and were encouraged to express their views, individually and at group meetings.
