Our view of the service
We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 7 October 2025.
We found the practice had met regulations.
The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.
Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.
Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
The Cosmetic Dental Clinic is part of Portman Dentex, a dental group provider. The practice is in Newcastle and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
Due to the limitations of the building, the practice was not accessible to wheelchair users. The practice was located near local transport routes and car parking spaces were available near the practice.
The practice had 6 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there were 22 members of staff. We gathered feedback and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 4 dentists, 2 dental nurses, the treatment coordinator and the practice manager. One of the group’s Safety and Quality Specialists was supporting the practice on the day.
People's experience of this service
Prior to the inspection we reviewed all feedback available to us including online comments. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.
Comments included “Explained thoroughly. Examination was detailed. Very friendly”, “Very helpful advice”, “5 star treatment all round”, “As always great practice I’ve been to many dentists and I wouldn’t go anywhere else amazing friendly team”.
The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
