Effective – this means we looked for evidence that people’s care, treatment and support achieved good outcomes and promoted a good quality of life, based on best available evidence. At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people’s outcomes were consistently good, and people’s feedback confirmed this.

The provider made sure people’s care and treatment was effective by assessing and reviewing their health, care, wellbeing and communication needs with them. The provider had systems in place to ensure the service could meet people’s needs before they were admitted. This included assessing the support people needed, for example, around communication, consent, and mobility. Each person was allocated a key worker to help ensure their individual needs were identified and met. Although some gaps were identified in people’s risk assessments, the provider used appropriate assessment tools, and records showed care plans were reviewed regularly. Most relatives said they were involved in the process and could view records through an app. One relative commented, “They are tweaking [person’s] care plan regularly.”
