Our view of the service
Date of assessment 12 November 2024 to 8 January 2025. The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulation in relation to medicines and risk management, care records and governance processes. Improvements were not found at this assessment, and the provider remained in breach of 2 regulations. Medicines were not managed safely. Risks to people were not always consistently recorded, including risks around eating and drinking. Care records were not always cohesive or regularly reviewed. The provider’s governance systems had not embedded safe practices at the service. The provider had an ongoing refurbishment plan to improve the environment of the home, and work was underway when we visited. Effective infection prevention and control systems were in place. The service worked with a range of external professionals to monitor and improve people’s health and wellbeing. People spoke positively about the range of activities available at the service. Staff felt supported by the manager and spoke positively about their leadership.

Most people spoke positively about the service and the support they received, saying staff were caring and kind. However, our assessment found the provider’s governance processes did not meet expected standards, which impacted on areas such as medicines management, risk management and care records.
