Our view of the service

We carried out this assessment of 18 Holt Coppice between 20 July 2026 and 19 August 2026. Two inspectors visited the agency’s office on 5 August 2026. We gave the provider 36 hours’ notice of our visit to ensure they were available to assist with our assessment. This was the first assessment of the service since it was registered with us in February 2022.


This report relates to the service provided to people using the home care service. At the time of the assessment 33 people were receiving the regulated activity of personal care.
We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.


The provider had a good learning culture where people, relatives and staff felt confident in raising concerns. People were protected and kept safe from harm or abuse. Staff had been recruited safely and there were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience to support people. Managers made sure staff received training and regular appraisals to carry out their role effectively. People received person centred care in accordance with their needs and wishes and they were involved in planning and reviewing the support they needed. Staff worked with other professionals to make sure people had the care and equipment to maintain their independence. People were cared for by staff who were kind and compassionate. People were always treated with dignity and respect. Staff managed medicines well and involved people in planning any changes. Staff worked with other agencies involved in people’s care for the best outcomes and smooth transitions when moving between services. Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities. There were audits and checks in place which were effective in identifying shortfalls and driving improvements.
 

People's experience of this service

People received person centred care which promoted their dignity, privacy and human rights. The ethos, values, attitudes and behaviours of leaders and care staff ensured people led confident, inclusive and empowered lives. People felt safe and were fully involved in planning their care and understood their rights. People were supported to be as independent as they could be and were supported to live the lives they chose. People received their medicines when needed administered by staff who were trained and competent in their role. People felt able to complain and were confident action would be taken, and improvements would be made. People were not subjected to any unlawful restrictions.
