Our view of the service

Inspection activity started on 30 June 2026 and finished on 27 July 2026. We visited the service on 15 July 2026.

Bower Grange Residential Care Home is a care home. People in care homes receive accommodation and personal care as single package under one contractual agreement. CQC regulates both the premises and the care provided, and both were looked at during this inspection. The home catered for up to37people,but35people were using the service at the time of inspection.

People received safe, effective and responsive support. Systems and processes were in place to mitigate the risk of harm to people and to protect them from abuse. Staff had a clear understanding of their responsibilities under safeguarding, while the provider understood their regulatory responsibilities. People were involved in the management of risk to their care and support. People were supported by enough staff who had received the appropriate training to meet people’s needs. Infection control procedures were in place to keep people safe.

People received effective care. People’s needs, wishes and preferences were assessed and captured and staff understood these needs. People were supported, when needed, to access healthcare services. People were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends.

Governance arrangements and systems were well established and ensured people’s care was monitored and improved if needed. Leaders and staff worked together to provide responsive care for people at the home. Care plans were detailed and contained information that staff needed to do their jobs well.

People's experience of this service

People told us they felt safe living at Bower Grange Residential Care Home. They spoke positively about the staff and the care they received. One person said, “I think the staff are perfect, 10 out of 10,” and another told us, “The care is really good, the staff are kind and caring.”

One person told us they had recently moved in and had been anxious prior to moving but told us, “It’s been the best decision I have made.”

People told us there were sufficient staff on duty to meet their needs. Medicines were managed safely, and staff respected people’s choices, showing flexibility in supporting individuals with their day-to-day lives. People knew how to raise any concerns and felt confident to do so.

Some people told us parts of the environment would benefit from redecoration and refurbishment. The provider was aware of this and had plans in place to address these areas.
