Our view of the service

We carried out an unannounced onsite comprehensive assessment of St Lukes (Cheshire) Hospice on 18 August 2025. During the inspection we spoke with staff, leaders, volunteers and people who used the service. We looked at care records, policies, procedures, complaints, incidents and observed patient care.

Our last inspection was 21 and 22 March 2016 and the service was rated as Good with no regulatory breaches. We found the service had continued to meet the regulatory requirements.

St Luke’s Hospice provides specialist care for people with advanced life limiting illnesses, including day and inpatient services to people over the ages of 18 years. There are 10 inpatient beds at the service. The services provided include counselling and bereavement support, respite, symptom management and end of life care.

The service also provides a lymphedema service (for people who experience swellings and inflammation) but this was not assessed as part of this inspection.

People's experience of this service

The feedback from people who use the service and those close to them was very positive. We were told people felt supported by staff and their needs were met. Communication was clear and pain management was reviewed when needed.
