Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 27 April to 06 May 2026.

Westerley Residential Care Home for the Elderly – Westcliff on Sea is a care home. People in care homes receive accommodation and personal care under one contractual agreement. CQC regulates both the premises, and the care provided, and both were looked at during this inspection. Westerley Residential Care Home for the Elderly – Westcliff on Sea provides a service for up to 20 older people, some of whom may be living with dementia. At the time of the inspection there were 11 people living at the service. Accommodation is provided over 2 floors and people have access to communal areas.

The inspection was completed to follow up on the last inspection to see if improvements had been made. We found the service had made improvements and are no longer in breach of regulations in relation to good governance and fit and proper persons employed. The registered manager had systems in place to monitor the service, which provided good oversight to monitor and improve outcomes for people. This inspection was unannounced.

People's experience of this service

People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. Staff had a good understanding of people's preference of care and staff promoted people's independence.
