We looked for evidence that the service involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.

Kindness, compassion and dignity
The clinic treated patients with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. This was reflected in the patient feedback we reviewed. Arrangements were in place to promote patients’ privacy.
Treating people as individuals
The clinic treated patients as individuals and made sure people’s care, support and treatment met people’s needs and preferences. Staff described examples of when they took account of people’s strengths, abilities, aspirations, culture and unique backgrounds and protected characteristics.
Staff gave patients timely support and information. The service worked closely with patients to understand and manage their expectations and their experience.
Independence, choice and control
The service promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.
Staff recognised the importance of people’s dignity and respect. Staff displayed an understanding about people’s reasons for seeking treatments and sought to ensure that people fully understood the risks and potential benefits.
Responding to people’s immediate needs
The service listened to and understood people’s needs, views and wishes. Staff responded to people’s needs in the moment and acted to minimise any discomfort, concern or distress.
Feedback indicated staff were flexible to accommodate patients’ needs and they took time to observe, communicate and engage people in discussions.
Workforce wellbeing and enablement
The service cared about their staff and supported them to deliver person-centred care.
