Our view of the service
Assessment activity started on 2 January 2026 and finished on 28 January 2026. We visited the service on 4 January 2026.
Woodview House Nursing Home is a nursing home. People in nursing homes receive accommodation and nursing or personal care as single package under one contractual agreement. CQC regulates both the premises and the care provided, and both were looked at during this assessment. The home catered for up to 24 people. 11 people were using the service at the time of assessment.
At the last assessment we found the provider to be in breach of regulations in relation to people’s safe care and treatment; the ways people’s medicines were managed safely, safe recruitment practises and governance of the service. Improvements were found at this assessment, and the provider was no longer in breach of regulations.
People received safe, effective and responsive support. Systems and processes were in place to mitigate the risk of harm to people and to protect them from abuse. Staff had a clear understanding of their responsibilities to safeguard people, while the provider understood their regulatory responsibilities. People were involved in the management of risk to their care and support. People were supported by enough staff who had received the appropriate training to meet people’s needs. Infection control procedures were in place to keep people safe.
People received effective care. People’s needs, wishes and preferences were assessed and captured and staff understood these needs. People were supported, when needed, to access healthcare services. People were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends.
Governance arrangements and systems were well established and ensured people’s care was monitored and improved if needed. Leaders and staff worked together to provide responsive care for people living at the home. Care plans were detailed and contained information staff needed to do their jobs well.
People's experience of this service
People and their relatives were consistent in their praise for the service and the care they received. A relative said, “You couldn’t ask for better care or carers. I’ve spent hours there and they’re so loving and caring you really couldn’t ask for better care.”Everyone we spoke to was positive about the care team and management. One relative said, “The staff treat everyone well, they go over and above for all of them.” Another told us, “I feel comfortable that [my relative] is safe and really well cared for even when I can’t be there, that leaves me reassured.”
