Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 10 March 2026 to 13 March 2026. The service is a residential care home registered to provide accommodation and personal care to older people, younger adults and those living with dementia. This assessment was completed to identify if the required improvements had been made following a previous inspection in April 2025.

Since our last assessment, the provider had not taken the necessary action to make improvements to the safety of the people living in the home and to the governance systems. The provider was in breach of the legal regulations relating to people’s safe care and treatment, safeguarding service users from abuse and improper treatment, person centred care and governance systems.

The systems that had been introduced were not effective in identifying concerns and driving improvements. Audits had not identified concerns with staffing, training, recruitment, the environment, IPC, care records and the management of medicines.

There was a delay in notifying us of reportable events that had happened in the service, safeguarding incidents were not always identified promptly and there was a lack of learning from incidents.

People did not receive safe care. Care plans and risk assessments were not always reflected of peoples up to date needs and information between paper and electronic records was conflicting. There was a failure to act on known risks to people, professional advice was not always followed, and equipment was not always available for people to ensure their needs were met.

However, staff were kind and caring to people and knew people’s needs. Staff spoke positively about the support they received from the management team and felt listened too.

This service is being placed in special measures. The purpose of special measures is to ensure that services providing inadequate care make significant improvements. Special measures provide a framework within which we user our enforcement powers in response to inadequate care and provide a timeframe within which providers must improve the quality of the care they provide.

In instances where CQC has begun a process of regulatory action, we may publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded, if the action has been taken forward.

People's experience of this service

We received mixed feedback from people and relatives. People and relatives were generally happy with the care. They felt safe living in the home, with the staff that supported them and the care they received. However, they felt there could be more to do in the home, and they could be more involved with their care.
