Our view of the service

We carried out our on-site assessment on the 15 and 16 October 2024. Ashingdon Hall is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to 28 people. The service provides support to older people and people living with dementia. At the time of our assessment there were 5 people living on the unit called the dementia suite. The second unit, the residential suite was currently unoccupied.

We assessed 29 quality statements across the domains of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-Led and have combined the scores for these areas with scores from our last inspection. We found 4 continued breaches of the regulations in relation to consent, safe care and treatment, good governance and staffing. A further breach of regulation was identified in relation to fit and proper persons employed. Ashingdon Hall remains rated ‘Inadequate’ in the domain of Well-Led and remains in ‘Special Measures’.

People's experience of this service

Though we found issues at the service in relation to consent, safe care and treatment, good governance, staffing and staff recruitment practices, people and relatives were positive. They told us staff were kind and caring. People told us they had enough to eat and drink and enjoyed the meals provided.
